A downtown meal, chocolates and an evening of neon

Begin at the California Hotel, then give the Neon Museum its own place in the evening. A relaxed downtown idea for visitors with a Hawaii connection—or anyone curious.

At a glance

Keep an afternoon or evening free; anchor it to museum admission
Walk inside the Cal; arrange transport to the museum

These are suggested time allowances, not live travel times or reservations.

How the visit could flow

  1. Check Aloha Specialties’ hours and make a meal at the California Hotel your first stop.

  2. Browse Ethel M’s California Hotel shop for something sweet to take home. In hot weather, make a plan for carrying chocolate before heading out.

  3. Head to the Neon Museum for your reserved admission time. If Brilliant! is part of the plan, select the appropriate evening add-on through the museum.

Make it work for your group

Book the museum first, then work backward for the meal and transfer. Do not leave chocolate in a hot car. The museum is not inside the downtown casino cluster, so allow a separate journey and the arrival time requested on your ticket.

The Neon Museum

The city’s old signs get a second life here. Choose a daytime look at the collection or an evening visit for a different atmosphere, then build the rest of your downtown outing around that admission time.

Keep it flexible

Swap a stop, shorten the outing or save it for another day. Your plan is a starting point for the trip you want.
